Job summary
Sexual Health Sheffield is an open access sexual and reproductive health service that promotes a holistic model of sexual health through primary prevention, early intervention and health promotion activities.
The post holder will work as a specialist autonomous practitioner providing high quality patient care undertaking a non-judgemental comprehensive full sexual, medical and reproductive history following departmental guidelines and manage barriers to communication.
You should be able to cope with a demanding and busy role which may have peaks and troughs. You should be able to work on your own initiative and be self-motivating and resilient. You need to have a positive approach and can do attitude and be able to positively support & manage change.
This job is advertising 1 full time (5 days - 37.5) and 1 part time position (4 days - 32.5) per week
Main duties of the job
- To provide level 1 sexual health services as a core requirement, as recommended by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health.
- In addition, as a specialist aspect of the role, dependent upon expertise, provide level 2/3 services in screening / diagnosing / treating those with sexually transmitted infections. Initiating / changing / repeating methods of contraceptive.
- To contribute to pathways and systems development for the sexual health service.
- At all times to work in an autonomous capacity and as part of the MDT.
- To teach and mentor both pre and post registration nursing students and medical students/medical staff as required.
- To provide clinical nursing advice, education and leadership within the speciality.
- To act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- To undertake an identified additional responsibility for the benefit/development of the service.
- To enable the professional development of self and others

Essential
- Registered Nurse Registered Midwife
- STIF intermediate, ENB 275/932 STI management or equivalent.
- Appropriate family planning qualification, i.e Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health part 2, ENB 900/901/8103 or equivalent family planning certificate, or equivalent.
- Possession of a Diploma in Nursing or working towards
- ENB 998 / C&G 730 or other recognised teaching qualification.
- Recognised Mentorship training
Desirable
- ENB 934 care and management of patients with HIV and Aids or equivalent
- Extended nurse prescribing/supplementary prescribing qualification
Experience

- GUM/CASH practice
- Evidence of post registration experience relevant to the role
