Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and dynamic qualified ACPs to join the surgical services department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.
Due to the expansion of the ACP and PA team we are looking to appoint qualified ACPs to support the Upper GI, Lower GI, Hepatobiliary and SAC services.
The post holder will act as a role model, delivering advanced practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care. They will be required to work autonomously in delivering independent assessment, clinical examinations, diagnosis, clinical decision making and planning of care and treatment, diagnosis, prescribing, health promotion and safe discharge of patients. They will support junior doctors and provide senior review of patients, as well as assisting in completion of workforce tasks providing a bridge between medical and nursing teams.
Main duties of the job
The advanced clinical practitioner will be an autonomous, accountable practitioner working on their own initiative and in collaboration with medical, nursing, and allied health professional colleagues as required.
The post holder will also play a key role within the service / department by supporting specific elements of service improvement, audit and research as well as having an active on-going role in the development, supervision, training and assessment of junior medical colleagues and NMAHPs.

Essential
- Registered Nurse with Valid NMC registration or Health Care Professional and registered with HCPC with relevant clinical experience
- Willing and able to successfully complete a full Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice - which may be via the apprenticeship route
- Post Graduate qualification in Advanced Practice
- Advanced Physical Assessment module, Non-Medical Prescribing (if part of proposed role)
- Advanced life support qualification (ALS/ILS)
- Evidence of relevant continuous professional development
Desirable
- Recognised Teaching & Assessment Qualification or equivalent experience
- Recognised Leadership Award/qualification or equivalent experience or willingness to undertake
