Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Physiotherapist to join our Assessment and Rehabilitation Therapy Team (ARTT). This is a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) that provides an excellent, patient centred, evidence based service for adults (predominantly frail older people).

The service provides gym and home based rehabilitation for people with Parkinson's Disease, at risk of Falls and frail older adults.

We are looking for a motivated, proactive Physiotherapist with excellent communication skills and experience of working in the rehabilitation of older people (pre- and/or post graduate), community experience is desirable. You will need to be able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

As a Band 5 you will have the support from the Band 6 + 7 Physiotherapist, as well as the other members of the MDT.

We have 2 separate locations -

  • Lightwood House, Lightwood Lane, Sheffield, S8 8BG
  • Nether Edge Outpatient Clinic, Lyndhurst Road, Sheffield, S11 8BJ

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

  • To manage a defined caseload using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to maximise the rehabilitation potential of patients.
  • To contribute to the operational management and modernisation of ARTT.

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy from a CSP recognised training establishment
  • Current HCPC registration

Experience

Essential

  • Working experience as a student in orthopaedics, neurology, general medical, respiratory and musculoskeletal.
  • Working with older people in orthopaedics, neurology, general medical, respiratory and musculoskeletal.

Desirable

  • Community working experience as student physiotherapist / Band 5

Special Skills/Aptitudes

  • Good interpersonal and team working skills
  • The ability to undertake complex communication including use of medical terminology
  • Good verbal and non verbal communication skills using motivation, explanation and reassurance to actively engage patients and carers in their treatment programmes
  • To use initiative appropriately, organise and prioritise work and manage multiple tasks
  • To be able to maintain accurate written records & statistics using IT systems
  • To respond appropriately and maintain a professional approach under pressure
  • The ability to teach and motivate others
  • Due to the requirement to undertake home visits and transport non-portable equipment, the post holder is required to be either a car driver with a valid driving licence, or have access to an alternative means of transport
