Job summary

We are seeking a PACS Service Manager who will have expert knowledge and opinion within the field of PACS and Radiology Information Systems.

The post holder will act as an autonomous service manager to provide strong leadership and apply a high degree of professional autonomy in the decision-making process of strategic development of service delivery using innovative solutions to improve patient care and pathways within the region.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Grade C GCSE Maths and English or equivalent. Excellent numeracy skills - ability to source and analyse data
  • Educated to BSc level (in a relevant subject) or have appropriate qualifications combined with equivalent experience to this level.
  • Post graduate qualifications at MSc level or equivalent experience in information systems or in the process of doing a Master's degree in a relevant subject or have appropriate qualifications combined with equivalent experience to this level.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuing personal development and to maintain professional registration (only applicable to applicants who are registered healthcare professionals or healthcare scientists)
  • Advanced IT skills. Experience of using IT packages (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Desirable

  • Teaching Coaching or Mentoring qualification.
  • Attendance of specialist short courses/seminars.

Experience

Essential

  • Highly developed knowledge of medical imaging systems
  • Demonstrable experience in a wide range of NHS Information Systems including PACS, RIS, EPR and other
  • Ability to critically assess and evaluate new technologies, techniques, software and equipment in healthcare
  • Expert knowledge of professional policies and national guidelines and standards pertaining to image storage and NHS information systems.
  • Awareness of quality frameworks e.g., Clinical Governance principles.
  • Knowledge of patient pathways, and the key role of diagnostic imaging.
  • Able to advise on selection and procurement of radiology image aquisition and information systems
  • Experience of the development of business cases/proposals
  • Extensive experience of report writing and good presentation skill.
  • Experience of managing, monitoring and controlling expenditure budgets.
