Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for nurses with extensive experience of working at band 5 level to join a dynamic and expanding research team as a band 5 research nurse.
In addition to supporting a range of clinical trials from early phase experimental medicine through to later phase studies, Sheffield NIHR CRF is currently supporting multiple Covid 19 trials including: interventional trials to determine best treatment pathways for patients and long term studies to understand disease progression and patient outcomes.
We are also a top recruiting centre for the Oxford vaccine trial with over 880 participants. This requires close working with clinical colleagues, to facilitate smooth and integrated patient pathways between clinical and research activity, therefore a willingness to work flexibly in a range of care settings is required.
Main duties of the job
To represent the CRF at national and international meetings.
To work flexibly across the Sheffield and South Yorkshire clinical research landscape in response to the needs of the service. This will include the Sheffield NIHR Clinical Research Facility, Sheffield Teaching Hospital Trust Directorates and NIHR Yorkshire & Humber Clinical Research Network in South Yorkshire
To maintain a suitable environment to promote the well-being and safety of patients, participants and staff, identifying the need for further risk assessment where necessary.
To assess the suitability of patients to take part in clinical trials.
To provide patients taking part in clinical trials with specialist information regarding their participation, including risk.
To provide high standards and continuity of care for participants during the research study, maintaining lines of communication with clinical staff.
To possess knowledge of Research Governance, GCP and current legislation relating to research.
To demonstrate knowledge of the ethical principles for clinical research and its impact on current practice.
To be able to outline the roles of the Health Research Authority (HRA) Governance Arrangements for Research Ethics Committees (GAfREC), and Research Ethics Committees (RECs).
