Job summary
We're looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Staff Nurses to join our Ward 3 and Ward 2 acute oncology teams at Weston Park Cancer Centre in Broomhall, Sheffield.
Ward 3 and Ward 2 are 30-bed space delivery acute care to emergency and elective chemotherapy patients, including day-case and in-patient.

Main duties of the job
You'll play a vital role assisting in the day-to-day running of our inpatient units, by providing clinical nursing expertise, care and support to our patients at Weston Park. You'll also deliver chemotherapy and other anti-cancer treatments to our patients, including occasionally across our other hospital sites and services in order to support patient care.
To maintain effective communication with all patients, carers and members of the Healthcare team.
To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide ranging physical and emotional needs.
To maintain accurate, contemporaneous and timely care records, both written and electronic.
At all times to protect, improve and preserve patients health by adherence to infection control policies and practice.
Exercise professional judgement by applying skills and knowledge to the safe custody and administration of drugs.
To provide basic clinical advice to patients, carers, healthcare assistants and students.
Support people in making better choices for their health and the health of their families.
To be a teacher for students and healthcare assistants providing mentorship andsupport and demonstrating exemplary practice.
Promote a professional and happy environment conducive to high patient and staff morale.
To participate in surveys, audits and research. To promote clinically effective nursing by demonstrating compliance with evidence based practice.

We also have a dynamic assessment unit with a 24-hour telephone triage service for patients on cancer treatment across our region.
