Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Cardiac Physiologist / Healthcare Science Practitioner to work as part of our Echocardiography team. This post is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is looking to expand and enhance their experience, knowledge and skills in the field of Echocardiography. Ideally we would like a physiologist with BSE accreditation or near completion of BSE accreditation process. You would become part of a dedicated team committed to delivering high quality, patient focused care.
Echocardiography at Sheffield sits within a large diagnostic cardiology department, and we provide a full range of adult Echocardiography, including TTE, TOE, stress echo and a contrast service. The workload is complex as we are a centre for cardiac surgery, inherited cardiac conditions and adult congenital heart disease.

Main duties of the job
- To support the Cardiac Ultrasound Service for the STHT by providing a high standard of work within Echocardiography that meets organisational, professional, and individual needs for the Diagnostic Cardiology Unit.
- To undertake routine diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound investigations and interpret results to provide an accurate clinical report that can be clearly understood by a physician not experienced in echocardiography and adheres to local and national guidelines.
- To be flexible in the way they work and to undertake any task assigned to them that they have been trained for.
- Assist in Trans-oesophageal Echocardiography and contrast echocardiography lists.
- Provide support to new trainees within the echo department.
- To share responsibility with other members of the echocardiography team for ensuring the delivery and safe running of the service.

- Registered or eligible to register with RCCP, AHCS or HCPC or Eligible for PTP/STP equivalence
- BSE written assessment completed
- Near completion of BSE practical assessment
