Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Theatre Practitioners to join our Neuro/Angio teams, ENT and OMF and Trauma and Orthopaedic teams at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

The Neurosurgery Theatres and Angiography Team are looking for a highly enthusiastic and dynamic individual with or without scrub experience in Neuro/Neuro Angio.

The ENT OMF team at the university hospital Southampton NHS foundation trust are pleased to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for patient focussed, friendly and enthusiastic Registered Nurse or ODP to join the ENT OMF team. ENT and OMF Team covers ENT, oral, maxillofacial surgery and paediatric ENT Surgeries. ENT, Maxillofacial theatres experience is preferable. Also, Full training will be provided to the successful candidate to expand their knowledge and skills.

The Trauma and orthopaedic theatre team are looking for qualified Theatre Practitioners. If you possess good communication skills, are patient focused, friendly and a team player we want to hear from you. In order to assist you to develop your career, you will be mentored and supported during your employment. The Trauma and Orthopaedic theatre team specialise in complex trauma, elective hip, knee, spine, shoulder, hand and foot and ankle surgery. We host the regional spinal surgery service along with our Neuroscience service You will rotate through the surgical specialties to gain a wide practical and theoretical knowledge base.

The successful post holder will:- Provide skilled specialist assistance in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care throughout the Operating Department.- Participate as an integral member of the team, covering a full range of shifts, including earlies, lates, nights, weekends and ad hoc on calls (if necessary).- Act as the patient advocate and maintain high standards of patient care, in line with NMC or HCPC code of conduct.- Be involved in supporting and mentoring students and new staff as appropriate.

  • Has the ability to assist in carrying out the transfer of a patient through the intraoperative phase of perioperative care, giving concise accurate handover
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the skills required to support learners in practice and to create a positive learning environment.
  • Practices and promotes the use of evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute health service.
  • Understanding of personal accountability.
  • Aptitude for caring for the anaesthetised and/or acutely unwell patient.
