Main duties of the job

Due to maternity leave of the existing post holder the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) has an exciting opportunity to recruit a part time / fixed term Major Trauma Education coordinator and admin team leader. Secondment will be considered with the existing line managers agreement.

This role is pivotal in coordinating and organising the varied Major Trauma Education, including, but not limited to; UHS Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Wessex Trauma Network (WTN) European Trauma Course (ETC), numerous WTN paediatric education events. The successful candidate will work closely with the course directors, the Education leads, the MTC and WTN senior leadership teams, with the wider MTC and WTN leads and the MTC office at UHS. The successful candidate will need to possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills and be IT literate on all MS office systems. The ability to work independently, bring personal motivation, energy and a desire for success to the position is essential.

This role also offers support to the WTN / MTC administrator.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or possessing an equivalent level of experience, training, and knowledge
  • Competent in use of IT systems. Good level of keyboard skills including relevant software packages (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Previous NHS administration experience. Excellent working knowledge of finance / requisition systems and relevant Trust and NHS procedures
  • Ability to analyse and interpret performance report information
  • Organisational knowledge of admin procedures and working processes
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multitask
  • Able to manage fluctuating demands on the post in calm and logical manner

Desirable

  • Courses/further study attended to demonstrate evidence of personal development
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems, progress chasing, resources and staff allocation
  • Awareness of health service policy in relation to Trust access targets
  • Experience in a supervisory role
  • Patient Administration System (for example eCamis, LUNA, CHARTS) trained
  • Service Improvement training
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL)
