Main duties of the job
At University Hospitals Southampton Foundation Trust (UHS) we have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to join and lead our oncology pharmacy team (SOCP) . This post the "Operational Lead Pharmacist Oncology " will lead a dedicated team of over 20 staff preparing over 30,000 doses of chemotherapy per year. The UHS oncology service is one of 12 regional units serving a population of 1.7 million people and is a leader in oncology trials with over 500 patients taking part in trials each year with SOCP critical to the provision of these clinical trials. UHS is investing heavily in Aseptics with the development of a new off site unit at Adanac park due to open in April 2025.

As the Operational lead Pharmacist Oncology, you will be responsible for the following:
Managing the SOCP service working with the operations manager ensuring that the correct treatments are prepared in accordance with national regulations and guidance and are delivered to patients for their scheduled treatment times. Acting as the lead accountable pharmacist for UHS and the accountable pharmacist for SOCP. Providing a highly specialist advice on chemotherapy preparation for clinicians and other pharmacy staff. Contributing to the development of a new UHS Licensed offsite Aseptic service at Adanac Park. Working with a variety of healthcare professionals and external companies to ensure UHS receives the best possible chemotherapy service.
What were looking forYou will need to be a registered pharmacist with significant aseptic experience preferably in oncology and a further qualification in clinical pharmacy or PTQA diploma with a willingness to learn and develop. Previous management experience in a clinical environment is required. Prior experience as an accountable pharmacist or equivalent is also essential and we would be keen to help you develop further with formal courses and via in house training.
