Main duties of the job
We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Neuromodulation team at UHS. we are looking to appoint a Motivated and enthusiastic band 7 Specialist nurse or therapist who is able to learn new skills and broaden their skill set in working with patients with Chronic pain, and movement disorders
The team currently comprises of neurosurgical consultants, neurologists, pain consultants, consultant clinical psychologist, clinical nurse specialists and admin support.
The post will involve the management and programming of patients with implanted Spinal cord stimulators (SCS) and Deep brain stimulators (DBS). The day to day role begins from the patients' initial assessment, includes patient education, support and guidance on managing their device as well as monitoring, programming and evaluation throughout their Implant pathway,( The post involves both outpatient and inpatient duties). In particular there will be a need for close MDT working and regular communication within the team and the industry representatives dealing with enquiries from patients and GPs/other clinicians. The successful candidate will be able to communicate competently, sometimes with distressed and complex patients in a clinic 1:1 setting or via Video or telephone, providing reassurance and seeking advice and guidance from the wider team as required.
