Main duties of the job
Are you looking for a fast paced, varied role using excellent communication skills, role modelling, high standards and to develop/ refine leadership skills? We have the position for you, as an exciting opportunity has become available in Eye outpatients, Ophthalmology for a band 5 registered nurse.
Our service runs 6 days a week, Monday- Saturday with some cross site working on occasions. Our full time staff members work a 4 day week, enjoying a good work-life balance.
We have a large multicultural team of 50+ staff members that strive to deliver high standards of patient care in a very busy clinical environment.
Through the years we had positive feedback from new starters and learners that they felt welcomed, supported and felt it was an inclusive culture. Staff retention has been high in the last few years with multiple progression opportunities within Ophthalmology.

We are looking for a highly motivated, trustworthy, professional and reliable band 5 to join our team. Previous ophthalmic experience is not required, as in house training and competencies will be provided.
The role can include but is not limited to the examples below:- assessing patients visual acuity and using knowledge and skills developed to determine next stage of the patient's journey- supporting unregistered nurses with medicine management whilst having a good understanding of local SOP's and PGD's-medical history information gathering- IV administration, cannulation and bloods- pre-assessment of patients for surgery - leadership skills- supporting student nurses, preceptees and budding new staff
