Main duties of the job
University Hospital Southampton (UHS) Maternity Services are seeking newly qualified midwives who are enthusiastic and committed to working in collaboration with women and birthing people, their families, and multi-disciplinary teams, supporting personalised choice and promoting exemplary care in line with national transformation ambitions and local Trust Values. We are proud to provide a homebirth service, have both an alongside and standalone birthing centre, have a level 3 NICU and our experience varies from supporting uncomplicated pregnancies to developing care plans for our high risk maternal and fetal medicine service. In addition, we have three well established continuity of carer teams offering our more vulnerable client groups a bespoke package of midwifery care within a continuity framework.As a Trust we are committed to positive workforce culture, job satisfaction and a healthy work life balance. The Maternity Services provides newly qualifying midwives with an excellent, comprehensive induction and bespoke preceptorship package. You will be working in a supportive and kind environment with your wellbeing and professional development placed at the very centre of your midwifery career.
Our preceptorship programme offers you the opportunity to gain confidence in both the hospital and community setting to help develop your midwifery skills and achieve your band 6 competencies within 18 months of joining the Trust.
We are seeking dedicated, motivated and flexible individuals who have a passion for midwifery. The successful applicant will be able to evidence professional integrity and an honest approach to embracing new and exciting opportunities and challenges that will become easily obtainable as they become an integral part of the Maternity team.
