Job summary

We are currently looking for highly motivated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join the Plasma exchange team within Neurosciences at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).The Wessex Neurological day care Centre is a well-established unit that provides plasma exchange as a day case, as well as other infusion procedures.

The Wessex neurological centre (WNC) provides a dedicated, integrated 24-hour acute neurosurgical, neurological, spinal and stroke assessment, investigation and treatment service. Sitting within a large teaching hospital, it has clear priorities for maintaining high standards of care and developing specialist services for the community and purchasers of the former Wessex region, West Sussex and the Channel Islands.

What youll do Provide a high standard of individualised nursing care in accordance with agreed policies, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for individual patients. Teach learners and other nursing staff in the ward environment. Give and receive regular reports on the progress of patients, reporting immediately any changes in the patients condition to the senior trained nurse on duty, or the medical staff as appropriate. Participate in the checking and administration of intravenous drugs having demonstrated relevant knowledge and competence, and been authorised by Sister/Charge Nurse or Senior Nurse
