You will be joining one of the biggest Clinical Engineering departments in the south of England, covering over 38,000 medical devices with an estimated value of £100M. The Trust provides world class regional specialist services in Cardiac, Neurology and Trauma.
The role will be contracted to work 37.5hrs per week, Mon to Fri (excluding bank holidays). The department's opening hours are from 8am to 4.30pm

What You'll do
With a clear focus on quality and patient services you will be responsible for managing a team of clinical technologists, technically supporting a wide range of medical equipment across many clinical specialities that supports the delivery of world class healthcare here at University Hospital Southampton, within the local healthcare community and overseas. The role may include exciting opportunities for 2-5 days of overseas work per year.
What We Are Looking For
- BSc in Medical Engineering through PTP, or equivalent qualification or experience, plus specialist knowledge acquired through postgraduate diploma or STP, specialist training to masters equivalent level or equivalent work experience.
- Specialist knowledge through formal medical equipment manufacturer training courses and in-depth experience
- Member of the voluntary register of Clinical Technologists or equivalent level of competence
- In depth experience of working at band 6 or higher (or equivalent) in a hospital medical engineering technical role with supervision of staff in a technical environment.

- Familiar with MS Office and the use of computers for accessing history and set-up information/databases held within medical equipment.
- Registered Clinical Scientist, or member of the voluntary register of Clinical Technologists or equivalent level of competence.
- Fit and able to carry medical equipment.
- Dexterous skills handling in precision electronic components and tool, able to use precision instruments, safety testers, diagnostic test equipment and microscopes.
- Able to climb step ladder to access telemetry equipment above clinical ceiling areas
- Able to travel between hospitals within UHS the portfolio.
- Valid passport to occasionally undertake overseas training and work
