Job responsibilities

As a clinical nurse specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care for people with cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis and the provision of specialist nursing advice. You will practice autonomously as a core member of the multidisciplinary team. You will need to be able to demonstrate high level clinical skills caring for inpatient, outpatient and community-based patients. This will include assessment during and on completion of a course of intravenous antibiotics, port flushes, lung function testing and blood tests.

The successful applicant will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to network across organisational and professional boundaries.You will need to demonstrate flexibility, the ability to adapt to change and the ability to work autonomously within the multidisciplinary team.

You will have a proven track record in acute care and be able to demonstrate effective leadership/managerial skills to enable you to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives within the service.

It is not essential to have experience in cystic fibrosis or bronchiectasis as full training will be given.

You will need to have access to a car or the ability to travel for community visits and remote clinics across the Wessex region.
