Job summary

We are looking for a Phlebotomist to join the UHS Pathology Phlebotomy team at Lymington Hospital.

No previous experience necessary, full training will be provided to the succesful candidate.

This can be a very busy department, during peak times we can see approximately one patient every 6 minutes.

The successful applicant will be working in the UHS Pathology Outpatient's department at Lymington Hospital. The working hours for the service are from 07:15 to 17:00 Monday to Friday as per rota. The applicant will also be part of the Saturday rota for Romsey Hospital which is currently approximately a 1 in 6 commitment.You must be self-motivated, possess good interpersonal skills and enjoy the challenge offered by a dynamic, progressive department.The successful applicant will be required to travel to the University Hospitals Southampton for Mandatory and Statutory training as required including practical Phlebotomy training with the clinical skills team.

  • Ability to complete all training packages including Venesection and cannulation course and ANTT course within 2 months.

  • Experience in providing healthcare
  • Experience preferred but not essential, as full in house training given
  • NVQ3, or willing to undertake NVQ training
  • Basic Life Support training
  • Previous clinical experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience in Venesection in an acute setting
  • Experience in hospital IT systems
