An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated senior nurse to join the Macmillan Gynae/oncology team at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) NHS Foundation Trust, as a Gynae Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has gained appropriate knowledge and experience in caring for patients with gynaecological cancer showing a desire to further enhance their skills within this specialised area.The field of gynaecological oncology is developing at a rapid rate, and we provide specialist services to patients from a wide geographical area. You will have the opportunity to develop existing skills and knowledge to support patients from referral and diagnosis throughout their cancer pathway offering individualised, personalised care and support, advocating shared decision making. You will be expected lead on the surgical pathway managing patients at all points including endometrial patient initiated follow up (PIFU) working closely with and managing the team Cancer Support Worker (CSW).
In addition to the surgical focus, you will also provide support to the wider MDT.
You will be expected to practice at an advanced level to provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, their families or carers and other health care professionals. You will practice autonomously and use advanced communication, problem solving skills and compassion to provide holistic care for the complex management of service users.
