Job summary

The Building Maintenance Department at Southampton General Hospital require a qualified Painter & Decorator to join our dedicated team on this modern healthcare estate. To keep the essential services running 24/7 you will enjoy working on a wide range of Painting works Trust wide.

You will undertake routine painting and decorating work to all properties across the Trust including refurbishing areas and remedying day-to-day defects. You will also be required to carry out extra tasks but not limited to; including glazing repairs, as required. While working closely with other trades in a health care environment.

Job responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Work independently, without direct supervision or as part of a team and where appropriate, identifying any deficiencies and report them to the appropriate Team Leader.
  • Communicate with the supervisor/line manager if the complexity of the defect is outside his individual skill level.
  • Perform painting and decorating duties to an acceptable standard required by the Trust.
  • Use a variety of manual tools required for painting and decorating duties.
  • Ordering paint and consumables suitable for use in a healthcare environment.

What we are looking for:

  • Driving license desirable.
  • Be able to climb ladder.
  • Be able to work at height.

Previous experience in an allied industry/application is desirable although not essential. Youll be required to demonstrate completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent at interview. The core elements of the job description require a good knowledge in respect of painting and decorating.
