Job summary
The Building Maintenance Department at Southampton General Hospital require a skilled maintenance assistant to join our dedicated team on this modern healthcare estate. To keep the essential services running 24/7 you will enjoy working on a wide range of building and services works Trust wide.
Previous experience in an allied industry/application is desirable although not essential. You'll be required to demonstrate your skill at interview and previous experience or equivalent at interview. The core elements of the job description require a good knowledge in respect of trades.
Opportunities exist to learn new vocational skills and techniques through specialised training throughout the modern healthcare estate. In addition we promote and support individual academic learning for future career development opportunities.

What you will do:
- Be responsible for routine planned maintenance.
- Technical cleaning of M&E equipment.
- Minor repairs of faults in mechanical and electrical installations.
- Decoration.
- Surveys and audits of plant and premises.
- General support across all core engineering activities.
What we are looking for:
- To have worked for the NHS or other type of organisation that are similar.
- Holds Driving License or has suitable and safe means to get to site during on call periods.
- Fit and to be able to climb ladder to access roof area across the sites.
- To be able to work at height.
- Good experience within the building discipline.
