Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experience retrieval and PICU nurse to become the lead Band 7 nurse on a full time or job share basis for the SORT service within Southampton Children's Hospital. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable with paediatric retrievals, dedicated to moving a service forward and who has excellent vision, leadership skills and communication skills.
SORT is the regional retrieval service for the Thames Valley and Wessex region, with a hub at Southampton and Oxford, transferring around 500 level 3 patients a year and taking over 1000 calls. Transfers take place by land, air (fixed wing and helicopter) and boat. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a lead nurse for the service at the Southampton hub in Southampton Children's Hospital. This role has been created to allow us further develop our service with expansion to develop a HDU transport system and repatriation team. This is an opportunity to develop and expand this service.
We would expect the candidate to take part in clinical PICU shifts and clinical shifts on SORT in addition to the managerial aspects of running the service and creating a business case for expansion and development.
