Job summary
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled, experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our large Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy team, within the regional Major Trauma Centre at University Hospitals Southampton.
The successful applicant will possess the necessary attributes to thrive amongst a dynamic multi-disciplinary team ethos. This position will enable you to showcase, and further develop, your comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation skills with patients undergoing both elective orthopaedic surgeries, and management of traumatic injuries, including complex multi-trauma presentations.
We are a large team of around 30 therapy staff including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy support staff that work in an interdisciplinary manner. We have an excellent rapport with our nursing and surgical colleagues and regularly work alongside different specialist teams including Plastics, Head Injury, Critical Care and rehab services.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WHAT YOULL DO:
You can look forward to involvement in service improvement, development, and audit, alongside applying your excellent therapeutic handling and treatment skills. The ability to teach and share your knowledge and skills amongst the trauma and orthopaedic MDT and wider therapy teams should be an equally important aspect of this role.
A robust framework of clinical support will be provided through a network of Specialist Therapy team members up to and including Consultant level therapists, specialist nurses, and medical/surgical colleagues. Along with the exposure to the management of a vast array of trauma and orthopaedic presentations, this post will undoubtedly offer ample opportunities for the right candidate to develop their career in this exciting and dynamic field.
Please note: The ability to travel to and from the hospital site for home and access visits, carrying and fitting large equipment, to support safe and effective patient discharge, is an essential part of this role.
