Job summary

Exciting opportunities have arisen for nurses looking to develop specialist clinical and managerial skills and progress their career within Neuro Oncology nursing. You will work in the Neuro oncology team as a nurse specialist providing follow up care and advice to the Skull base tumour patient group, hosting nurse led clinics virtually and participating in research. You will join a team of professionals with expert knowledge in the investigation and treatment of patients who may have a brain tumours.

The Wessex Neurological Centre (WNC) is one of the largest neuroscience centres in the country providing services to a population of 3 million people. Sitting within a large teaching hospital we are committed to maintaining high standards of care and developing our specialist services for the community. The Wessex Neurological Unit consists of: neurosurgery, Neurology, Acute Stroke, Spinal Service, Neurophysiology and Neuro OPD/ Pre-assessment.

  • Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
  • Degree qualification, 120 credits at L6 or possess an equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant specialist training, experience, or portfolio
  • Post registration qualification within area of speciality
  • Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
  • Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice or evidence assessed to be of equivalent experience, demonstrating support to a range of learners in practice. Provide evidence of- Supporting a range of learners in practice and Supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice

Desirable

  • Registered on MSc Pathway - completion of HTPA Competencies
  • Non-medical prescribing
  • Counselling qualification
