Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our dynamic and committed team on Porchester Ward at The Wells Road Centre.

Porchester Ward is a 20-bedded male rehab ward. The ward promotes least restrictive practice and provides a comprehensive treatment pathway for men who experience mental health issues who can present with complex needs, including enduring psychosis, trauma, personality disorder, offending behaviour, self-harm and substance misuse. Multi-disciplinary, structured approaches to risk assessment and management are a key feature of the service and through our assessment of patient needs / risks we will establish appropriate care pathways for each patient. A range of psychological, occupational, educational and vocational approaches will be available to support the patients in their recovery, and from low secure to community accommodation. As such, there will be an emphasis on developing links with community services and promoting social inclusion.

Main duties of the job

To actively support the Ward Manager in fulfilling all the Key Result Areas and Responsibilities associated with their Clinical/Management Role. To assess, implement, and evaluate care programs for individual patients, providing professional knowledge and skills.Practices which foster and develop multi-disciplinary working will be implemented in all aspects of clinical practice.

The role requires a RNLD or RMN Nurse with current registration with the nursing and Midwifery council who will deliver nursing care to patients in line with specified standards within a secure clinical setting.. To deputise in absence of a senior manager.. To lead a team of staff within low secure mental health provision.To promote and maintain high standards of care through communication, motivation, supervision and role modelling.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
