Manual Handling Associate Trainer to a Manual Handling Trainer

Job summary

This is a development position from a Band 4 Manual Handling Associate Trainer to a Band 5 Manual Handling Trainer after achieving the relevant qualifications, which are;

  • IOSH training course
  • Internal sign off of competencies
  • Possess or willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification (C&G 7304 Certificate in Teaching) to Diploma level equivalent

To develop the skills and gain the experience required to supportthe Manual Handling Trainer andthe Training Manager to deliver a range of training across the Trust. This is a developmentopportunity and will be supervised and supported as the individual develops in the role. The mainareas of focus will be: -

To learn to deliver a range ofmoving and handling, and associatedtraining offerings for staffacross the Trust, including Moving and Handling and Resuscitation training.

To work with theManual Handling Trainer,the Training Manager and associated training teams to bring into the Trust additional capacity to teach and advise staff on both Resuscitation and personalback care and moving and handling issues.

To work with the relevant Trainers to respond flexibly to training needs which may emerge within the Trust relating to moving and handling issues.

Main duties of the job

To support / deliver high quality Resuscitation andMoving and Handling training across the Trust.

To work as part of a Learning and Development teamand the commitment to develop as an individual trainer.

Ability to offer a consistent, reliable service includingpunctuality for training sessions and visible planning ofabsence and contingency planning.

Attend team meetings, managerial supervision andannual performance review.

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking theiressential training.

To undertake any other duties as requested relevant tograde and post.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

The post holder will be expected to learn to demonstrate resuscitation techniques and efficientmovement principles to participants and present as a role model to others. Specific holds, bodypositioning and efficient movement will apply to all aspects of movement and handling methods.

The post holder will be required to transfer training materials for Moving andHandling training and set up training rooms as necessary.

Other subject areas are not expected to require any added physical skills. The post holder will have the ability to travel across Trust sites

Responsibility for Patient/Client Care
