Job summary

Older People Care Unit are looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Lead for Cherry Ward at Highbury Hospital.

Cherry is an 20 bedded mixed gender inpatient ward for assessment and treatment of mental health problems for over for people over the age of 65.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience or invested interest in working with our patient group. You will have a sound knowledge and understanding of the mental health, person centred care, physical health and social needs relating to this patient group.

We are seeking to recruit someone who has the relevant knowledge and skills to provide clinical leadership to the ward's multidisciplinary team. You will be a visible point of contact to junior staff requiring clinical guidance, expertise and support in the delivery of high-quality, person centred and compassionate care.

It is essential that you are able to work flexible hours over 24-hour period 7 days a week this post also incorporates Senior Nurse duties at Highbury.

Applicants should have have excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, be able to work alongside existing team manager and have the personal characteristics to assist in leading a strong, experienced and supportive team in a challenging and rewarding environment.

Applicants must display a considerable degree of initiative, possess mature judgement and maintain a calm, friendly and efficient manner when dealing with patients, carers, colleagues and visitors.

Applicants must have substantial experience at Band 5.
