Digital Systems Specialist - Application Delivery

Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Digital Systems Specialist to work in the Application Delivery function within Digital Systems.

As a part of this role and with the support of the Senior Digital Systems Specialist, the successful candidate will work as a 3rd line specialist within their function.

You will be a member of the Digital Systems Team that provides expertise in 3 key technology areas:

Core Services - Responsible for directory and access control services, email and filtering services and Microsoft 365 services.Application Delivery - Responsible for back end support of clinical and non-clinical applications, solutions to be hosted by 3rd party providers, implementation of monitoring tools.Platform, Security and Automation - responsible for remediation of penetration test vulnerabilities, monitoring of security related application and tools, enacting hardening as required.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Main duties of the job

  • Back end support, maintenance and configuration for clinical and non-clinical applications.
  • Deployment of solutions to be hosted by 3rd party providers.
  • Configuration and management of monitoring solutions for Application Delivery and wider use within Technology Services.
  • Management of Databases.

The Digital Systems Team operates as part of the Technology Services function within the Digital, Data and Technology Services Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual who has the enthusiasm and ability to work in a challenging but equally rewarding ICT Operations department.

As a team, we provide advanced technical expertise to support, maintain and deliver across a range of ICT critical infrastructure & systems. This is a lead role in a key technology area: Platform, Security and Automation.

You will therefore:

Work with appropriate teams to ensure appropriate back up and retention of applications and related data.

Coordinate and complete upgrade and maintenance activities including patch, upgrade, hot fix deployment in line with agreed schedules and processes.

Design, development and deployment of proactive performance and integrity monitoring for the supported services.

Assist with resolution of Service Desk calls and underlying problem diagnosis as appropriate in line with agreed SLAs or OLAs.

Raise, implement, and review technical change requests in line with the Trust ICT Change Management Policy

Work with Solutions Architects and Senior Digital Systems Specialists to review and develop solutions, considering disaster recovery and resilience and propose technical designs.

Support of applications and services including implementation, maintenance, management, monitoring and patching.

Maintain and update applicable documentation, such as diagrams, manuals and procedures, and ensure the service catalogue is accurate and up-to-date.

Work with Project Managers and Programme Managers on projects as directed by Digital System Manager, including agreement of transition to live service.

Lead on non-project work packages to deploy minor works and agreed solutions.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of resolved issues, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices to create a knowledge base for the support team. Regularly sharing knowledge and expertise with team members will be encouraged.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change.
