Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a flexible, dynamic and motivated Band 6 Mental Health Specialist Physiotherapist with mental health clinical skills, knowledge, and experience to take on opportunities within older adult community mental health services within the City CMHT. This is an opportunity to diversify and expand your skill set to work within and across multidisciplinary teams to enable and drive high quality effective, accessible physiotherapy care.

The physiotherapy role in City CMHT includes provision of specific assessments, formulation, and interventions, working collaboratively with patients, their carers/families and partnership organisations to develop creative, goal oriented, physiotherapy plans. As a senior clinician you would work flexibly and autonomously responding to service needs. Your role will also be to support junior staff and peers in their development.

You will hold a diploma or degree in physiotherapy, be registered to practice in the UK, have post graduate experience of working in mental health settings.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality holistic evidence-based care to patients / service users with mental health needs that is responsive, effective and efficient.To facilitate and support timely discharge and prevent inappropriate admissions by supporting patients / service users to remain as independent as possible and maintain or improve their level of function and quality of life.To work autonomously, often as the only physiotherapist in a multidisciplinary team, with patients / service users with complex multifactorial needs. You will have professional support from the Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist and AHP Lead.To promote the specialist role of physiotherapy within your team to include service planning and development, supervision of non-registered therapy staff.To be pro-active in delivering anticipatory and responsive care, promoting independence, healthy lifestyle, reduction in health inequalities to improve the overall quality of life in the local population.To offer a comprehensive physiotherapy service to patients / service users, providing a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approach to maximise patient function, well-being and self-care planning.To work closely with patients / service users and their carers using a recovery and positive risk-taking approach.

To encourage and promote flexibility and innovation within the team to meet the needs of the caseload population.To facilitate Public Health Initiatives by educating patient / service user on their health and well-being to promote independence.To help facilitate timely discharge and prevent inappropriate hospital admissions.To act as role model to all team members.Maintain accurate and contemporaneous documentation to ensure timely, effective communication and data collection.Ensure that patient / service user documentation demonstrates clearly the organisational Guidelines for Records and Record Keeping.Be personally accountable for maintaining skills, knowledge and competence in the use of RiO.Be aware of the Data Protection Act to ensure appropriate action is taken to ensure confidentiality and the protection of patient /service user identifiable information at all times.
