Job summary

We're pleased to be able to advertise an Access to Information Officer post to work within our Access to Information Team. The Access to Information Team is a part of the Trust's Data Security and Data Protection service.

We're looking for someone that works well under pressure, is motivated and organised, and will relish the opportunity to learn. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with and interpret different pieces of legislation, it will enhance your personal and professional skillset, and help to provide you with the necessary knowledge to progress within our service.

The main duty of the role will be to process requests for copies of personal data; these requests are made by a variety of different applicants (including patients, solicitors, the police service, etc).

The Access to Information Team is made up of 11 team members and is based at Duncan Macmillan House in Nottingham, although the team currently undertake hybrid working (a mixture of working from home and in the office) - the hybrid working has been successful, efficient, and has proven popular with the team members.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide support and guidance to Trust staff, service users, and their representatives in relation to information rights incorporating General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018, and the associated legislation
  • To understand and be able to interpret the current data protection legislation particularly in regard to data subjects' rights, ensuring the Trust upholds these rights
  • Working to strict deadlines as dictated by legislation policies and procedures
  • To retrieve information both electronically and paper based when requested by telephone and in writing both internally and external to the Trust keeping in accordance with protocol
  • To provide an access to information function ensuring all data is present, requesting appropriate authority and approvals required prior to processing requests, working to the relevant legislation, local policies, procedures an guidance

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change.
