Main duties of the job

The HoN is a key member of the senior care unit clinical team. Working closely with the Matrons, Ward Managers and Physical Health team members, the wider Clinical teams, the Heads of Service, and the wider organisation, the Head of Nursing will play a main role in driving forward the professional nursing agenda in inpatient and community services. This will include safer staffing, professional standards, developing systems and monitoring dashboards to drive quality improvement and contribute to the development of the strategic direction of clinical services. Primarily the Head of Nursing for each care unit will take overall responsibility and accountability for the standards of care delivered by the nursing workforce. They will model high professional standards and lead by example, lead and promote a culture of learning, where learning is shared across the units and the wider Trust, and successes are celebrated, and create an environment on our inpatient units where excellence in clinical care will flourish in relation to the key dimensions of health care quality: Patient safety, The effectiveness of all health care interventions, Patient experience and involvement, Safe Staffing, Reducing Restrictive Practices, Infection Prevention and Control
