Job summary
This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
Sherwood Oaks is a purposed designed 70 bedded Adult Mental Health Inpatient service located on the outskirts of Mansfield.
To effectively plan, implement and lead a high-quality Occupational Therapy Service with service users on the acute wards at Sherwood Oaks Hospital. The post holder will work autonomously and ensure service users are assessed in relation to their occupational functioning and will work with the individual to identify their plans, to maximise independence in relation to daily living and social inclusion. Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, use their clinical expertise to participate in the preparation, implementation, and review of plans to aid recovery. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day safe and effective running and the provision of Occupational Therapy on the wards.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will clinically supervise Occupational Therapy staff within the team and other support staff as required providing guidance and focus to their work, ensuring safe working practices. Professional and clinical supervision will be provided by the identified OT Professional Lead and the post holder will link into the wider OT network in Nottinghamshire and will work co-operatively with colleagues to ensure high quality service provision and gain opportunities for support and Continual Professional Development opportunities. The post holder will receive Managerial supervision from the Ward Manager. They will undertake the role of Practice Placement Educator for Occupational Therapy students providing student placements in accordance with local agreements and standards and will support students from other disciplines. The post holder will liaise with a range of agencies and services across Nottingham.
As an Occupational Therapist you are a key member of the multidisciplinary team working in partnership with adults; undertaking specialist occupational therapy assessments and contributing to multi-disciplinary treatment and care planning.
