Job summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual who has the enthusiasm and ability to work in a challenging but equally rewarding ICT department as a Data Centre Technician. The position will assist the Data Centre Manager to oversee daily operations, maintenance and management of two data centres and a number of comms rooms, ensuring all critical systems function optimally.
You will be a member of a newly created Digital Environments team within Digital Services as such it is essential that you are a proactive, reliable and results-driven individual who is not afraid to engage with colleagues across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The Digital Environments team is one of several technical specialist teams within the Digital Services , which is part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare's Health Informatics Service (HIS).
As part of Digital Services, the Data Centre Technician will assist the Data Centre manager to proactively manage the specification, installation, maintenance & ongoing development of the data centre physical environments and the supporting infrastructure that is required for the delivery of the Trust's core ICT Services. This will include but is not limited to:
- Power
- Cooling
- Rack-space provision
- Environmental Monitoring & Alerting
- Energy Efficiency of core ICT Facilities - measuring & improvement
The role will work closely with other ICT technical teams and with colleagues from Estates relating to all associated activities affecting Trust Data Centres and Comms Rooms.
On a day to day basis, the role assists the Data Centre Manager in managing the logistical elements of services to be carried out by 3rd parties in all Trust data centres and comms rooms, including compliance to the schedules of planned maintenance as defined in contracts with suppliers and documented by any relevant legislation or compliance regime.
