Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced business intelligence professional to hold a crucial role in the Trust.
The Trust has made a significant investment in business intelligence because it recognises the impact that the intelligent use of data can make to the delivery of high quality and efficient health services. Having developed most of the infrastructure, the focus now turns to using specialised skills and knowledge to maximise benefits to clinicians and patients.
This role will report to the Trust's Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Manager and is part of the Health Informatics Service. The department provides a great opportunity to learn and use the latest information technologies in a supportive and learning environment. The team utilises the current technology of SQL Server, Power BI, SharePoint and Excel.
Main duties of the job
You will have a hands-on technical role in the team. You will design and implement new solutions and architecture. You will work closely with wider teams in the Trust or external resources when required to overcome technical issues and/or improve current environments and solutions. You will also have a leadership and training aspect to your role. The Business Intelligence function is part of the Trust's Applied Information service, supporting them in their responsibility for the maintenance and ongoing development of the data warehouses, and coordinating the delivery of reporting solutions that meet the Trust's changing needs and providing intelligence on business problems.
You will work with the Trust's clinicians and managers to roll out the solutions to stakeholders to derive the benefits of the data warehouse infrastructure as well as pursuing the on-going development of this solution, including integrating new data sources, delivering new dashboard and report solutions and visualisations to support performance monitoring, improving clinical outcomes and ensuring the Trust can meet its business objectives.
You will have a strong level of knowledge across the range of Business Intelligence areas including ETL, data warehouse structure and delivering meaningful dashboards and other ways of connecting users to data, whilst having the experience to judge what is the appropriate solution to implement from a strategic Trust position.
You will have applied knowledge of core DBA functions (configuration, security, monitoring & tuning, backup & recovery) to ensure optimal performance of team deliverables to our customers and stakeholders.
You will also keep abreast with the latest thinking in Business Intelligence technologies and consider how our information infrastructure and insight delivery tools may continue to evolve.
To be successful in this role you'll need more than just strong technical skills (although in-depth knowledge of the full Microsoft BI stack and experience of developing and managing BI solutions is essential). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand business requirements and translate these into meaningful reporting solutions, working with multiple stakeholders across the Trust, will also be vital.
We welcome part-time applications and are supportive of team members working in flexible, family-friendly ways. Other benefits include an excellent pensions offer, up to 38 days annual leave per year, lease car / cycle to work schemes and other health and wellbeing benefits. We value diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds, including non-male genders, black and minority ethnic groups and people with health conditions or impairments.
