Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced emergency planner to join the growing EPRR team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will report to the Strategic Head of EPRR & Counter Terrorism within the Chief Operating Officer's corporate team. The Team is responsible for the provision of professional and expert advice, guidance, information, a robust training and exercise programme and support to Trust staff on all matters relating to the Emergency, Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) function. This includes business continuity and major incident planning.

We are looking for a passionate, experienced resilience professional with a can-do attitude and flexible approach to adapt to situations as they evolve and unfold. If this is you, we look forward to receiving your application.

Your primary base will be Duncan Macmillan House, Nottingham, but you will be required to travel to other Trust hospitals, care centres and premises. There will also be a degree of flexibility in working from home arrangements.

Main duties of the job

Working in partnership with the current EPRR Officer, the Post holder will:

Support the design and delivery of a comprehensive specialist EPRR, business continuity and recovery training and exercise programme for Senior Managers and On Call staff, including Command and Control through face-to-face training, workshops, e-learning, podcasts and presentationsto ensure staff are competent and confident at delivering any role they may be assigned during a business continuity, critical or major incident.

Support the provision of an efficient, effective and high-quality professional work programme for the EPRR service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

Deliver and maintain an effective EPRR service to support the implementation of EPRR plans across the Trust.

Co-ordinate and report outcomes for review from any exercises, training events and internal emergency response arrangements, technical systems such as operational alerts and communication arrangements to support the Trust's emergency response.

Develop and monitor EPRR performance indicators, providing regular performance reports and analysis on EPRR training and Preparedness.

Work flexibly to support emergency response activities including providing specialist EPRR advice, administration and debriefs, writing reports and identifying actions to be taken and lessons learned.

Qualifications - Academic / Craft / Professional

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or relevant level of experience in subject areas.
  • Training qualification or relevant experience.

Desirable

  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2)

  • Diploma in Emergency Planning or willing to work towards and to achieve this.
