Job summary

This apprenticeship prepares an individual for supervising a facilities management service, or a group of services, which can be labelled as 'hard' (estate/building management) or soft (catering/cleaning/administration/security).

All apprentices will be required to understand the contractual requirements and service delivery targets between their employing organisation and the client/customer in order to achieve service targets. The apprentice will have to provide customer service skills and be proactive in finding solutions to problems.

Main duties of the job

  • The post-holder will become fully conversant and competent in providing Estates and Facilities Services support within a relevant Estates and Facilities Services role in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • This level 3 apprenticeship prepares an individual for managing a Facilities Management (FM) service, or a group of services, which can be labelled as 'Hard' (estate/building management) or Soft (catering/cleaning/administration/security).
  • Training will involve working alongside Estates and Facilities staff within the different areas of the department, working under supervision.

  • Complete the practical and academic requirements for a qualification in Facilities Management Level 3.
  • Ensure the delivery of an excellent and responsive customer service.
  • Assist with the day-to-day management and auditing of contractors and service providers
  • Assist with the procurement of supplies in accordance with financial regulations and ensuring best value objectives are achieved at all times
  • Assist the administration required within the department
  • To contribute to the Estates and Facilities department work.
  • To gain an understanding of how the Department functions by providing support as required whilst gaining knowledge and experience and by undertaking training in the following:
    • NVQ level 3 Facilities Management
    • Technical Certificate
    • Level 2 Maths and English (if not held on entry) completed prior to completion of apprenticeship.
    • Follow all policies/procedures and guidance related to the designated role

Other duties requested by the Trust in line with the grading of this post.

  • Good standard of general education to GCSE level (or equivalent) to include GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above or Level 2 Apprenticeship

  • RSA1 or similar IT qualification

  • Work experience (paid or voluntary)

Physical Rquirements

  • Able to travel to multiple locations on a frequent basis
  • Able to walk around sites of varying conditions for short or long periods, visiting wards, departments, plant rooms, effluent treatment plants.
  • Able to work at height, in restricted areas or unpleasant conditions, such as sewage, waste, pests.
  • Able to sit in a restricted position (desk) for a proportion of the working time

  • Access to own vehicle for business use to visit sites not accessible by public transport.
