Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to work as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP) within the National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women. The CNP role involves the delivery of advanced nursing care to patients, including the delivery of therapies and activities that contribute to the Trauma Informed Care Pathway of the service. The post holder will offer clinical supervision and support to nursing and multidisciplinary team through excellent clinical leadership and management skills. There is an expectation that the role will be split between 60% clinical activity and 40% practice and service development.

Main duties of the job

This role involves providing advanced healthcare assessment and intervention for patients within the National High Secure Healthcare Service for Women, who present with complex risks and needs. This role requires the individual to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and provide advanced clinical advice on the provision of treatments across their specialist area. They will be required to demonstrate active leadership skills within the team, providing education, supervision and support to staff in accordance with service needs. The role also involves contributing to service evaluation, improvement and development, in accordance with the service's clinical strategy.

Clinical Work Practice

  • To act as the clinical expert for issues associated with their specialist area of practice across the service area through high quality consultation and supervision
  • To develop and deliver appropriate core/advanced training, development and education packages to identified groups of staff (i.e within the job holder specialty)
