Job summary

The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adults of working age who are experiencing acute mental health difficulties. As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting service users through their recovery journey, promoting safety, dignity and meaningful therapeutic engagement at all times.

You will be based on one of our 15-bedded inpatient mental health wards in Yeovil and will work as part of a committed multidisciplinary team including Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and medical staff. Together, the team provides evidence-based, person-centred care tailored to individual need in a supportive and recovery-focused environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to adults experiencing acute mental health needs.
  • Act as a named nurse / keyworker for designated service users, coordinating care and contributing to recovery planning.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care.
  • Promote therapeutic engagement, risk management and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Support and supervise junior staff, students and healthcare support workers.
