Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Clinical Teaching Fellow in General Surgery (ST1-ST2)

The closing date is 11 April 2026

Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer two exciting Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) posts in General Surgery, based at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, in partnership with Bristol Medical School. These ST1/2level roles provide a 50/50 split between clinical surgical practice and undergraduate medical education, ideal for doctors completing foundation training or taking time out of specialty training.

You will join a vibrant community of 11 CTFs across multiple specialties, with strong support from the Undergraduate Education Faculty and Medical Education Team. Each post includes opportunities to develop as a clinical educator, pursue a PGCert in Education (funded up to 4,000), participate in simulation faculty development, contribute to educational projects, and gain experience across surgical specialties including colorectal, upper GI, vascular, urology and emergency surgery.

These roles provide an exceptional balance of teaching, clinical development, and surgical training within a busy, well supported department.

Both posts are permanent, full time positions.
