Job summary
We're looking for a caring and motivated individual to support our Leg Ulcer Service across community clinics in Somerset.
This role offers the opportunity to assist in delivering high quality, compassionate care across a range of clinic sites. Working closely with registered nurses, you will help with clinical and practical tasks that support the smooth day-to-day running of the service and ensure patients feel well supported throughout their treatment.
Clinics take place in Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Taunton, Wellington, Minehead, Shepton Mallet and Wells. Travel to different sites is an essential part of the role, providing variety in your working week and the opportunity to work with colleagues across the county
Main duties of the job
Patients attend the clinic across 7 different clinic locations and the post holder will play an important role in ensuring that each patient receives a welcoming, safe and high quality experience during their visit.
Key responsibilities include welcoming and greeting patients on arrival, helping them feel comfortable and supported throughout their appointment. The role also involves assisting the clinical team with a range of basic clinical tasks such as the removal of dressings and supporting patients with skin care as directed by the nurse in charge.
You will be responsible for preparing clinical rooms prior to appointments and ensuring they are cleaned and maintained to a high standard following patient appointments. This includes maintaining appropriate stock levels of clinical supplies and ensuring that equipment and treatment areas for organised, hygienic and ready for use.
Working under the guidance of the nurse, you will also contribute to health education and health promotion that support patient wellbeing. This made include providing patients with guidance on skin care, leg elevation and correct application of hosiery garments when required.
The post holder must demonstrate a strong awareness of health and safety procedures at all times, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and that all clinical environments remain safe, clean and compliant with infection, prevention and control standards.
