Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, Musgrove Park Site, are seeing a permanent, 40 hour per week, Trust Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
This is a ST1/2 equivalent position working Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700. Currently there is no on call requirement, however this is subject to change and dependant on gaps in the rota
This post attracts a fixed basic annual salary of 52,656
The role of the Trust fellow will be to provide medical input to the units to enable the efficient and effective assessment and initial management of all cases. The post holder will also support the Consultants who run these units.
The Trust fellow will take part in the teaching of medical students when they are in session within the department. Teaching will involve predominantly supporting their learning on the wards where they will shadow the LAS during routine ward activity as well as patient discussions in the outpatient clinic setting. Excellent library facilities are available.
This is a non training position and therefore is not recognised for training by the Royal College of Physicians or Obstetrics and Gynaecology

To participate in the teaching of Foundation Doctors at the bedside as well as to Medical Students
To maintain a good working relationship with existing staff members in the hospital
To perform duties in accordance with the departmental rota
To attend other hospitals within the Trust is requested to do so by the supervising consultant
While it has been agreed between the Professions and Department of Health that junior doctors accept that they will perform extraordinary duties on occasions, the Secretary of State stresses that these additional commitments are exceptional and, in particular, that junior doctors should not be required to undertake work of this kind for long periods or on a regular basis.

Any such arrangement would be formalized under a separate contract, as appropriate.
