Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Practice Education Facilitator Midwife to help drive high standards of maternity care through the delivery of a structured and evidence based education programme. This includes facilitating workshops, study days, simulation training and providing individual support within the clinical environment.
The role provides focused leadership for student midwives, midwifery practice supervisors and practice assessors, and acts as the key link with our partner Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). Working collaboratively with HEIs and the maternity leadership team, the post holder will play a central role in preparing and supporting our future midwifery workforce.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver structured education programmes including workshops, study days, teaching sessions and simulation based learning.
- Provide responsive support and guidance to Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors.
- Build effective working relationships with HEIs and represent the service at relevant educational meetings.
- Maintain regular contact with student midwives through placement visits, group sessions and onetoone support.
- Coordinate the allocation of Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors and maintain accurate databases.
- Review student feedback, escalate concerns and support improvements in placement experience.
- Ensure placement capacity is safely utilised and aligned with supervision availability.
- Support the development of orientation programmes for new maternity staff.
- Deliver training to the wider multi disciplinary team, promoting evidence based practice and shared learning.
- Maintain own clinical competence, including undertaking a minimum of two clinical shifts per roster.
- Support safe management and use of training equipment and training resources.
- Contribute to governance, incident learning and wider service development work.
