The closing date is 15 March 2026

Job summary

Ready to take your radiography career up a gear? We're looking for dynamic, forward thinking Band 6 Radiographers to join our expanding cross sectional imaging team -- whether your passion is CT, MRI, or you're excited to develop across both.

This is an incredible time to join us. Alongside our busy acute service at Yeovil District Hospital, you'll also rotate through our brand new Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre, a purpose built hub packed with state of the art scanners, streamlined patient pathways and a genuinely innovative approach to care. It's a fantastic environment to grow your skills, broaden your experience and be part of something fresh and future focused.

You'll deliver high quality imaging, support junior colleagues, and help shape a service that's constantly evolving. In return, you'll work with a friendly, supportive team who value development, collaboration and great patient care. With opportunities to work flexibly, take part in extended hours and oncall, and contribute to imaging across Somerset, this role offers variety, progression and real impact.

If you're motivated, adaptable and excited by modern cross sectional imaging, we'd love to welcome you to our team.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high quality CT and/or MRI imaging, ensuring safe, efficient and patient centred examinations across both Yeovil District Hospital and the brand new Bridgwater Community Diagnostic Centre.

Rotate through our state of the art CDC, working with the latest scanners and streamlined pathways to support faster diagnosis and improved patient access.

Use advanced clinical skills to plan, perform and adapt a wide range of cross sectional imaging examinations, making real time decisions to optimise image quality.

Cannulate patients and administer contrast safely in line with PGDs and Trust protocols.

Prioritise and coordinate daily workflow, ensuring smooth patient throughput and effective use of scanner time.

Work autonomously within a supportive team, contributing to extended hours and oncall services as required.

Support and mentor junior radiographers, students and support staff, helping to build skills and confidence within the team.

Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, relatives and colleagues, ensuring excellent patient experience throughout the imaging pathway.

Contribute to service development through audit, quality improvement projects and the implementation of best practice.
