Cross Sectional Imaging Lead Radiographer

The closing date is 12 March 2026

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward thinking Radiographer to join our new Community Diagnostic Centre in Bridgwater that is due to open in early summer 2026 as the Band 7 Cross Sectional Lead Radiographer. This is a pivotal role within a developing service, offering the chance to shape high quality CT and MRI provision for our local community.

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and clinically confident radiographer with a passion for cross sectional imaging and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient centred care. You will play a key role in leading the day to day operation of the cross sectional service, supporting the team, and ensuring that imaging pathways are safe, efficient, and aligned with national best practice.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will provide advanced clinical expertise in CT and/or MRI while acting as a key point of reference for the wider imaging team. You'll lead, supervise, and support radiographers, students, and assistant practitioners, overseeing daily workflow, staffing allocation, and overall service coordination to ensure efficient, patient centred care. You will contribute to service development through protocol optimisation, audit activity, and the implementation of best practice guidelines, while maintaining full compliance with IR(ME)R and other regulatory standards. A core part of the role involves supporting training, competency assessment, and ongoing professional development within the team, as well as collaborating closely with clinical and operational leads to enhance patient experience, service quality, and departmental performance.
