Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Facilities Service Assistant to join our community hospital team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors and staff. As a key member of the Facilities team, you will support housekeeping, portering, and catering functions, ensuring our hospital runs smoothly every day.
Main duties of the job
As a Facilities Service Assistant, you will:
- Carry out daily cleaning duties across a range of hospital areas, following National Cleaning Standards and Trust procedures.
- Support patient care by maintaining high hygiene standards and ensuring clinical and non-clinical areas are safe and well presented.
- Assist with portering tasks including transporting equipment, linen, specimens, meals, and patients between departments.
- Contribute to catering services by preparing simple food items, supporting meal regeneration, delivering patient meals, and monitoring food safety standards.
- Work closely with the Facilities Team Leader, Facilities Housekeeper, Catering Leads, Matron and the wider ward teams.
- Maintain accurate records including cleaning schedules, monitoring sheets and temperature logs.
- Use equipment safely, follow COSHH guidance, and adhere to all Trust health and safety procedures.
- Provide support and guidance to apprentices and new team members as required.
