Job summary
Therapeutic Education forms a key part of the Homes and Horizons project -- a ground breaking collaboration between the NHS, Social Care, and The Shaw Trust. This innovative partnership delivers residential homes, therapeutic education, high needs foster care, and trauma informed environments for some of Somerset's most complex and vulnerable young people.
Therapeutic Education is currently delivered at Misterton Learning Centre, with a second Learning Centre opening in Wellington in 2026. Each site supports up to 15 young people, offering a combination of education, therapeutic interventions, and specialist activities. Clinicians and teaching staff work side by side to create a truly integrated therapeutic environment.
We are now recruiting an experienced professional with a strong background in young people's mental health and proven leadership skills to oversee the day to day running of one of our Therapeutic Education sites. This post includes the line management of the CAMHS Therapeutic Education Team, working in close collaboration with education colleagues to ensure consistent, high quality provision.
This role is ideal for someone who is organised, confident in trauma informed practice, and committed to shaping compassionate, therapeutic, and empowering environments for young people.
Main duties of the job
- Provide day today leadership and operational oversight of a Therapeutic Education site.
- Line manage the CAMHS Therapeutic Education Team, including supervision, appraisal, development planning and performance management.
- Ensure high quality clinical care, oversight of assessments, formulations, and therapeutic planning for young people.
- Work collaboratively with teaching teams to design and deliver individualised therapeutic curricula.
- Support staff to apply trauma informed principles in daily practice and decision making.
- Maintain strong multiagency relationships within the Homes and Horizons partnership.
- Ensure systems are in place to monitor staff training, professional development and workforce planning.
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement and implementation of evidence based practice.
- Manage incidents, complaints and risk processes in line with Trust policy.
- Oversee budgets, resources, staffing levels and effective deployment of the CAMHS team.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping, report writing and adherence to professional standards.
- Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, health and safety requirements, and organisational policies.
