Job summary

We are looking for a motivated Secretary (Band 3) to join our Mendip Community Mental Health Team at The Bridge, Priory Health Park, Wells. Working as part of a friendly and supportive team, you will provide essential secretarial and reception services to help ensure the smooth running of the department.

Your role will involve a variety of tasks, including managing telephone enquiries, typing reports and correspondence, minute-taking, handling mail, arranging appointments, and ordering supplies. You'll also assist with petty cash and support meetings, helping the team deliver high-quality care to service users.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys working in a busy environment where no two days are the same.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming calls and visitors, ensuring courteous and effective communication.
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support, including typing letters, reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and maintain accurate filing systems.
  • Organise appointments and maintain room booking systems for team members.
  • Handle petty cash transactions and order goods and supplies as required.
  • Support meetings by preparing documentation and refreshments, and taking notes.
  • Assist with data entry and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during absence and support induction of new staff.
