Support Worker Eating Disorder Service - Adults

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join the Eating Disorder Service for Adults (EDSA). This is a dynamic and expanding multidisciplinary team offering specialist care to individuals experiencing eating disorders across Somerset.

You will play a key role in enhancing community-based support, helping individuals access resources and achieve personal goals that improve their quality of life. You will work closely with patients, families, carers, and professionals across the service to promote recovery and engagement.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in mental health or community care settings who is passionate about making a difference and keen to develop within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing eating disorders.

  • Provide specialist support under clinical supervision, including group and individual interventions.

  • Support clients in accessing community resources and achieving personal recovery goals.

  • Assist in assessments and contribute to care planning and risk management.

  • Liaise with voluntary sector organisations and other services to coordinate care.

  • Maintain accurate records using the Trust's electronic systems.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.

  • Travel across Somerset to deliver care in various settings including clinics, homes, and community venues.

  • A care related HNC/HND equivalent e.g. NVQ level 3 (or 2 and working to 3)/ Associate Nurse / Psychology graduate.

Desirable

  • Additional care related qualifications.

Experience

  • To have knowledge and experience of a wide range of health and social care community resources.
  • Experience of working in community settings.
  • Demonstrable experience of working directly with a vulnerable client group, including experience of working psychologically with people with mental health problems.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people who have eating disorders.
  • Experience of developing therapeutic relationships with people who are hard-to-engage.

  • To have knowledge of both young peoples' services as well as services provided to adults.
  • Must be a car driver with a valid driving licence or have access to transport with appropriate business insurance in order to travel throughout the Trust, to meet the needs of the service and willingness to drive to different locations across the county.
