Job summary

We are seeking a Trust Doctor (F2--ST1 level) to join our Emergency Medicine team at Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 4-month rotational post, offering excellent exposure to a wide range of emergency presentations in a supportive environment. You will work under consultant supervision, contributing to the efficient assessment and initial management of patients in our busy Emergency Department. The role includes access to departmental teaching, CPD opportunities, and study leave.

Main duties of the job

Provide initial assessment and management of adult and paediatric patients in the Emergency Department.

Participate in ward rounds, clerking, and acute care under consultant supervision.

Maintain accurate medical records and ensure safe prescribing practices.

Escalate care appropriately and manage acutely unwell patients.

Engage in departmental teaching, audits, and quality improvement projects.

Work a self-rostered rota (including days, twilight shifts, and nights).

Adhere to Trust policies on safeguarding, confidentiality, infection control, and health & safety.

  • MBBS or equivalent On GMC Register with license to practice
  • Completion of FY1 and FY2Years
  • Up to date knowledge of guidelines within Emergency Medicine

  • Higher qualifications and or degrees
  • Academic awards and or prizes

Experience

  • Experience in undifferentiated emergency Medicine Experience working with MDTs and discharge planning
  • At least 6 months experience working clinically in the NHS as a doctor
  • Experience of working for a minimum of 4 months in a Emergency Medicine setting.
