Job summary

We are looking to increase our Critical Care Outreach Band 7 workforce by the equivalent of up to 2.5 full time posts. This is open to internal applicants only with current/recent experience of working within the Yeovil Hospital Critical Care Outreach Team. Candidates must have evidence of completion or be working towards the National Outreach Forum Enhanced Level Critical Care Competencies. The service covers 24/7 with Days, Twilight and Night Shifts, there is the expectation that all CCOT members cover these shifts in a varied shift pattern.

Main duties of the job

To be a skilled member of the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) providing early intervention with appropriate assessment, observation and treatment to seriously ill patients in all clinical areas.

The role involves preventing further physiological deterioration and identifying those patients who would benefit from an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission, or critical care interventions and support.

To be autonomous expert clinical practitioner and provide extensive clinical advice and support to ward based staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in caring for seriously ill patients in the acute setting, when this is deemed appropriate.
