This newly established post reflects our commitment to expanding specialist dental services across Somerset, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care in restorative dentistry.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering consultant-led outpatient and inpatient services, with a focus on complex restorative care including prosthodontics, periodontics, and endodontics. You will work closely with colleagues across specialties--particularly Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics--to provide integrated multidisciplinary treatment planning and care.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of restorative dental services in the region. You'll be instrumental in developing clinical pathways, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to service innovation. The role also offers scope for academic collaboration, teaching, and research, supported by strong links with regional dental schools.

We are looking for a compassionate, skilled clinician with a passion for excellence and a collaborative spirit. If you're ready to make a lasting impact in a supportive and progressive environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide a Restorative Dentistry service, with scope to develop their own area of interest. Main duties are conducted at Musgrove Park Hospital with some clinics held at locations in Exeter.

The consultant will need to demonstrate:

*Understanding of clinical risk management

*Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate.

*Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical / scientific approach.

*Ability to mentor staff both medical and nursing.

*Experience of clinical risk management.

The consultant will also assume responsibility for the organisation, management and diagnosis of treatment of patients in the hospital, in conjunction with colleagues across the hospital
